Charity Golf Day in support of Sense

HOLLMARK CHARITY GOLF DAY

On a brisk clear morning at the end of October, Hollmark Ltd. hosted our first charity golf day held at Langdon Golf and Country Hotel, we were joined by a mix of clients and subcontractors, totaling 32 people.

The day was held to raise money for our long standing client - Sense, a charity supporting people with complex disabilities, offering support through childhood into adulthood and beyond.

We started the day warming up with breakfast, order of play and the sale of raffle tickets and Mulligans. These give a free shot if your first is unsuccessful, Hollmark Directors may need to buy a few more of these next time!
Throughout the course our team were on hand to raise even more money for Sense. At the 8th hole tickets were sold to win a prize if you landed your 1st shot onto the green, quite the mission at 174 yards! At the 9th hole we had our very own Hollmark refreshment stand, with plenty of tempting goodies. At the end of the 18 holes an informal drinks reception and dinner was held, where the highly anticipated places and prizes were awarded!

Competitions – 1st place team – won by – Andy Pearman, Elliott Pearman, - Woodham Joinery. Dave Kenny, Peter Swannell from Moy Materials
Nearest the Pin – Sean O’Sullivan – NHS ambulance services
Longest drive – Rob Waker – Raw Pluming

Prizes included golf bags, golf umbrellas, wine, Champagne and dining out experiences.
In total, from hole sponsorships, raffle tickets and on course games we raised a fantastic £1,100.

We would like to thank our clients who were able to attend and support us on this day and look forward to another successful and enjoyable competition next year.

In his quest for new experiences, our Director Ian Holliman signed up for a gruelling physical challenge. With no experience he trained, over an eight week period, in preparation for a boxing match. Following a strict regime of training, exercise and a specialist diet, Ian put his all into it. Eight weeks later, in front of hundreds of spectators, including family and friends, Ian fulfilled his personal goal. As it would turn out, Ian’s original opponent was unable to fight due to an injury and his replacement was an MMA fighter. We did not get to celebrate a win that night!! However, all his effort helped in raising valuable fund for the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

For our last annual charity event Hollmark Ltd, staff and friends, (masterfully!) negotiated the Chelmsford 5K inflatable run. We completed this challenge in aid of the wonderful and supportive charity, Young Minds. Our local comprehensive school, The Billericay School, have a close relationship with Young Minds, being one of their nominated charities. Young Minds champion children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing across the UK. They are there to help children and young people cope with life’s adversities, find the help when needed and succeed in life. Young Minds have four strategic aims: • Foster innovation to meet the needs of vulnerable and excluded children and young people. • Promote good mental health to more children and young people than ever before. • Champion the voices of young people and parents to influence mental health policy and practice. • Inspire excellence to achieve transformed, integrated services. The Young Minds website hosts a wealth of information for children, parents, and schools. Including, but not limited to, medical conditions, feelings and symptoms, support documents and helpline telephone numbers. Where staggeringly, three children in every classroom have a mental health problem, the website could be a vital tool to help combat the pressures they face today. We highly recommend visiting it. www.youngminds.org.uk At Hollmark we have several key clients, some who are involved in the provision of mental health care and schools within the Havering Schools Brokerage, where charities such as this can make a real difference. Given these affiliations we aim to raise as much money to help Young Minds continue their valued work and help as many lives as possible.

Hollmark FM Solutions want to personally reassure you that any business decisions we make in undertaking work are thoroughly assessed in line with current Government guidelines. We just don’t’ know when or if things will ever be the same again, so we need to find ways to operate and exist whilst continuing to support the National and Global effort in fighting this disease.

Our values firmly remain with supporting our local community. We have a regular commitment with Quilters School – advertising in the Summer fete programme, donating raffle prizes and sponsoring the girls year 6 football team. A new addition for this year, is the sponsoring of the Essex Junior Tennis Tournament which is held at Billericay Lawn Tennis Club throughout the summer

2020 has been a challenging year, with its difficulties impacting on everyone. However, it has also bought communities together and given a renewed sense of priorities. With this in mind we decided to support two incredibly worthwhile causes. Collectively our employees, across the business, donated goods for Hampers of Hope. The organisation produces hampers for the elderly, lonely or those less fortunate at Christmas time. This year our donations were given to the vital women’s refuge charity in Chelmsford. Secondly as a company, a donation was made to SSAFA – The Armed Forces Charity. In recognition to their service to the Nation, the SSAFA , supports the needs of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families. Offering support whilst maintaining independence and dignity. www.ssafa.org.uk/donate
